Pickrum (Palmer) family web site lists date of birth as 06 September 1862, and online tombstone transcription lists date of birth as 05 September 1863, but the Hawkins family bible (American Bible Society, printed 1895 & assumed to have originally been the property of Mary Palmer and William Hawkins) lists her date of birth as 05 September 1862 [and Bible spells her middle name as Irena rather than Irene] so I have used the Bible as the official source of info until proven otherwise. [NOTE 1: I received this bible from Mary I. (Palmer) Hawkins's great-granddaughter, who received it from her grandfather - one of Mary's younger sons. Bible entries are done in a very clear, precise, and easily legible handwriting and appear to be written by the same person. // NOTE 2: 1920 Nebraska Census lists her as Mrs. Mary Hawkins, age 58, widowed; however, this is not entirely correct, as her former husband was alive, but the couple had separated prior to the Census date. // NOTE 3: A newspaper clipping containing an obituary for Mary's father, Joseph Thomas Palmer, also leads me to believe this may have been a Bible in which she entered family information.] Burial information from Cemetery Records of Mount Hope Cemetery, located 1/2 mile north of Springview, NE on Highway 183, which are posted online.
