Wife of Will Hawkins - estimated date of marriage June 16, 1917 // Have found marriage record for William "H." (should be William A.) Hawkins, age 23, and Edna "Myrtle" (should be Edna Myrle) Horton, age 24, in Book 2 of the Keya Paha Marriage Records for 1900-1925, Certificate #368, listing a marriage date of June 6, 1917. Although the names are not exactly correct, I believe this is Will & Myrle Hawkins - location, ages, names, and marriage date are very similar, but would like to confirm whether or not the misspellings are in the original or in the transcription. // Have photo of Will and Myrle with two teen-aged daughters dated 1940. Also have Christmas card with photo of Will and Myrle dated 1973. Last known residence in Whitney, Dawes County, Nebraska. Myrle was ordained April 7, 1938 as an Assemblies of God minister. Buried in Whitney Cemetery in the small community of Whitney, Nebraska (Dawes County) - population 88 in 2000 US Census // NOTE 2: Have since found 1900 & 1910 Census records for James A. & Hannah Horton (brother of Ellis E. Horton, husband of Adelia C. Hawkins), which list a daughter named Mural E. (age 7 - born Nov. 1892 in Iowa according to 1900 Iowa Census) and E. Myrle (age 17 according to 1910 Nebraska Census), as well as an obituary for James Horton of Keya Paha County, listing a surviving daughter named Mrs. W. A. Hawkins. Since children from the family of James Horton are buried near Adelia & Ellis Horton, it would be logical for there to be a fairly close family connection.
