William Ward Hawkins would be the child of Abram and his first wife, Mary E. Ward, as he was born before Abram married Harriet Fouts in 1877. So far, I have found limited documentation to that effect, but have found a date of death for Mary Ward in Nov. 1873 in Kansas. This would also explain his middle name (Ward). The marriage began and ended (and William was born) between census years, which makes documentation more difficult. // According to the Pound and Kester Book, William Ward Hawkins and his family lived in Indianapolis, Indiana around 1904 (when the book was published).
