Son of James BAKER, William Thomas BAKER was born 25 Sept 1860 in Georgia, and died 03 Oct. 1956 at his home in Rufe, Oklahoma. // He married Adelia Elizabeth HAWKINS 01 January 1881. // According to the 1920 Cherry County, NE Census, William Thomas Baker lived in Loup Precinct and was 59 as of January 1920. This would place his date of birth around 1869-70. His place of birth is listed as Georgia, with both parents born in Virginia. This census also lists him as divorced at the time and shows no other family members living with him. The 1910 NE Census for Cherry County shows a William Baker (age 49), also located in Loup Precinct, married for 27 years to Adelia (age 46 or 47), who had 8 children, with 7 still living. Children listed on the 1910 census include: Edna (age 17), Rosa (age 14), Emery (age 11), and Orvile (age 8). This is consistent with other information found for Adelia Hawkins Baker. William Baker's occupation is listed as farmer. The 1900 NE Census for Buffalo County (Kearny Precinct) lists William (age 39) and Adelia (age 36) Baker and all their children except Orval, who was born in 1901. This census shows his date of birth as September 1860. According to his obituary, "William Thomas Baker, 95, Rufe, died at his home at 8 a.m. Friday. Born in Georgia, September 25, 1860, he had resided at Rufe 20 years, after moving from Nebraska. He was a retired farmer. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Denison cemetery with Rev. James F. Greer officiating. Arrangements and burial were under direction of Coffey funeral home. Mr. Baker is survived by five sons, Elzie Baker, Waco, Tex.; Jess Baker, Lincoln, Neb.; Everett Baker, San Diego, Calif.; Emory Baker, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Orville Baker, Valentine, Neb.; two daughters, Mrs. Karl Lentz, Baker, Mont.; and Mrs. Guy Wolf, Gold Hill, Ariz.; 25 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren."
