Elizabeth KESTER, daughter of William and Elizabeth (LACOCK) KESTER, was probably born about 1763 in New Jersey. She died in 1840 and is buried at Prairie Creek, Indiana. After her marriage to Edmund LISTON in 1781, she "settled under the Laurel Hills on George's Creek" - Southwest of Cumberland, Maryland. In 1786, the family moved to Kentucky, traveling by flat boat on the Ohio River and arriving in Louisville, Kentucky in April 1786. They lived in Nelson County, Kentucky, moved to Jefferson County in 1789, and to Spencer County in 1791. In 1801, they moved to Butler county, Ohio. In 1808, they moved to Knox County, Indiana, near Vincennes, and from there to Vigo County in 1814, near Prairie Creek, where Elizabeth KESTER remained until her death in 1840. Elizabeth KESTER was known for her skill as a "doctor woman" and a nurse.
